Whenever we talk about behavior of someone, whom we call educated, in the public; we look at 1) his/her dress or 2)the way he/she speaks or commonly, 3) the way act (present themselves to) in public, and we appreciate them for what they are. But, the third level classification fails to fit for many of those fit into first two classifications and still they have got degree(s) to place besides their name. When government statistics shows linear or exponential improvement in the number of people getting or got educated (so called!!!), there should be same level improvement in civilization (manners, livability, tolerance and etc). I am sure that it is not what we see.
Very commonly, we can find the following incidents happening in day-to-day life,
1) Someone talking on mobile phone (without headset) while riding a bike
2) Spitting in corners of stair case walls
3) Parking vehicle on slot
I haven't put another common trouble; overruling road rules, as everybody does this.
The fault is not of the doer (cheaply behaving educated), but the system which provides them those degrees. Education means bringing up knowledge and good qualities, but currently it is understood for scoring marks and getting a job opportunity. If you ask someone why he/she is studying/ has studied, they would immediately reply 'to make money', whereas the answer should be 'to make living'. Earlier education (20 or 30 years before), always worked on the formula, 'to make living', but now it completely misunderstood and follows the wrong formula.
In my fathers school days, he was taught and asked to practice good behavior in public, now neither I was told or my children will be told.
The current education system has clients rather than students and it produces money or score making machines rather than giving good human to the society. I wish changes will be made in the educational system for betterment of human race.
Morality, I started thinking about this point for some while. When we read about communal riots, moral policing, rave parties, eve-teasing and pub culture, etc., we need to have a soft debate (not for TRP) to bring out the root cause. I can see, for many of the problems the cause is improper education or ignorance (noneducational), the children need to be taught about morality besides other subjects, but we see children aren't taught morality at all. The freedom without control produces inhuman, but after 1947, Aug-15, we cannot proudly say we have achieved for what our ancestors fought. It is high time for us to think once again (may be for first time) to rejuvenate our living by bringing morality to our life.
Dude, I think you need to put your thoughts in more organized way. You are talking about many topics and the outcome of it is not clear. I understand your concern. Good thinking.
